April 08 2024, Dilawri INEOS Grenadier
In a remarkable testament to its ruggedness and reliability, the INEOS Grenadier has triumphed in the Truck/SUV category of the grueling 2024 Alcan 5000 Rally. This victory marks an impressive achievement for INEOS Automotive, as the Grenadier showcased its endurance and performance in one of North America’s most demanding motorsport events, merely a year after its market debut.
The Alcan 5000 Rally, celebrated for its challenging nature, is not just a test of speed but a trial of precision and endurance. Competitors navigate over 5,000 miles through some of the most treacherous terrains North America has to offer, including icy roads, deep snows, and long stretches of unforgiving wilderness, from Kirkland, Washington, through British Columbia and Alaska’s Arctic Circle, culminating in Anchorage, Alaska.
The unmodified INEOS Grenadier, skillfully piloted by Andy Lilienthal and navigated by Mercedes Lilienthal of Portland, Oregon, outperformed 16 formidable competitors. Their success in the rally is a compelling demonstration of the Grenadier’s capabilities, as the vehicle excelled in extreme conditions, ranging from temperatures as low as -32 degrees Fahrenheit to challenging ice slaloms and endurance tests.
Andy Lilienthal praised the Grenadier’s performance, highlighting its resilient suspension, potent turbocharged engine, and the comfort and versatility of its interior. “The INEOS Grenadier was a solid performer in every condition we put it in...To have this new vehicle on the 40th year of the Alcan 5000 and take top honors in our class was amazing,” he remarked.
The Grenadier's success in the Alcan 5000 Rally underscores INEOS Automotive’s commitment to combining rugged British design and German engineering rigor. This approach has culminated in a 4X4 that is not only capable of conquering the harshest environments but also meets the high standards of comfort, refinement, and quality demanded by today’s drivers.
Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive, commended the team's groundbreaking effort, stating, “Mercedes and Andy are true trailblazers that really pushed our Grenadier to the limit and excelled. Watching their journey across 5,000 miles was great fun, even the brutal, competitive endurance tests in the ice and snow. Well done, team!”
The INEOS Grenadier’s victory at the Alcan 5000 Rally is a promising indicator of its potential to redefine the standards for off-road vehicles, proving that it is as adept at navigating the daily commute as it is traversing the globe’s most formidable landscapes.
